Geek in the Park

Our annual out of Brum event, featuring a daytime picnic and an evening of talks. Bring food and drink and Frisbee for the day in Jephson Gardens. Family also welcome.

The Evening features talks by Simon Collison on “Nailing your own projects” and Remi Sharp on “HTML 5 & Friends”. Saturday 15th August, 12pm-11pm

PHP West Midlands

Newsletter: Remember, Geek in the Park

Wow, how time flies while you’re dodging the rain during this British summer. August is upon us and this is a quick reminder to those with wandering minds; Geek in the Park is this weekend – Saturday 9th August – in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.

Weather permitting the event will be starting at noon in Jephson Gardens. The park is relatively big with three distinct areas, but in finding us you could experience it all! If you’re looking for a quick shortcut straight to us, we’ll be south of the river. Lost? Find the ‘Glasshouse’ with the Restaurant, then head over ‘Mill Bridge’ take a left and we’ll be in the grass area there. Remember, bring along some blankets, a picnic and some games to play…

As the afternoon draws in, at 7pm, make sure you’re at Kokos for talks from both Jon Hicks and Drew McLellan. The talks will be on the first floor (that’s upstairs!), and will be followed by general chitty-chat
and drinking.

Please remember, if it’s wet, the picnic event starting at noon will not take place but the evening will proceed as planned, but if you’re already in the area, Leamington still has a nice shopping precinct. Hope for sunshine, and I look forward to seeing new faces!

Newsletter: Geek in the Park 2008

We have now confirmed the finer details of Geek in the Park. The speakers have been confirmed Jon Hicks & Drew McLellan. And the evening venue has been arranged, which will take place at KoKos.

Jon Hicks will present “Pixel Pushing: An Introduction to Icon Design” and Drew McLellan will talk about “What Brian Cant Never Taught You About Metadata”.

The next time you’ll hear from me will be a week or so before the actual event on Saturday 9th August. This will just be a quick reminder of what you should expect from the day.
