Does Birmingham Need a Creative Director?

Stef gave a great presentation at Creative Republic about how creativity and culture in Birmingham is mostly invisible to the potential visitor. As an experiment he arrived at a city carpark and then attempted to only follow the signs. Read Stef’s post entitled “A Creative Director for Birmingham”.

Bearflakes?

The guys at One Black Bear are working on a new not-so-secret project - Cloudflakes - an integrated host/development/deployment solution. Apparently their PHPWax framework is due for a full release in the near future too…

What to ask?

Si has been busy looking for a new minion, and asked the ‘pack to suggest some good interview questions for a web developer.

dConstruct Rundown

Matt went to dConstruct 2008, a conference on designing for the social web, you can read about the event’s highs and lows at his blog in a post titled “dConstruct 2008 - Designing the Social Web”.

Browsing Guides?

The UK Government put out a draft of its browser guidelines for public sector websites. They’re a bit shit. Fortunately they’ve asked for feedback, which ‘pack member Bruce Lawson responded and has written on the Web Standards Project website.

UX London

UX London is a new event for 2009 from those whacky folk at Clearleft. Lots of big names from the usability and user experience world like Don Norman and Jared Spool will be speaking.
